Georgetown Fire/Medical Department is the best of both worlds – a department rich in history and a fast-growing top-notch emergency services department.
Georgetown Fire/Medical Department possesses a long record of outstanding service to the Georgetown area. We are one of the longest-standing fire departments in the United States. Since its inception in 1881, the Department has provided professional and caring services to the residents of Georgetown. In 1882, the City’s first Hook & Ladder Company was organized. Around the same time the Hook and Ladder Company and Rescue Hose Company 1 were both started.
Today, Georgetown Fire/Medical Department is comprised of highly professional and dedicated members that continue to meet the increasing service demands for our community.
The Department responds to more than 10,000 emergency incidents per year and has consistently added more emergency personnel and resources to meet the growing demands of the community and improve firefighter safety.
On October 1, 2015, Georgetown Fire/Medical Department expanded its service delivery model to include MICU capable transports and ALS Engine Companies. These medical services are based upon progressive standard of care (SOC) protocols that seek to improve interventions and outcomes.
With new and high-tech apparatus and other life-saving programs such as the hazmat team, dive team, swift-water rescue team, wildland, combat challenge and bike team, Georgetown Fire/Medical Department seeks to redefine the traditional emergency service model.
